Universal Terminal
One terminal interface for operating compatible implement functions.
AGRICULTURAL MACHINE COMMUNICATION
The industry name associated with the ISO 11783 family of standards for communication between agricultural tractors, implements, displays, and farm software.
ISO 11783 specifies a serial data network for agricultural and forestry machinery. Its purpose is to standardize communication among sensors, actuators, control elements, displays, and information systems mounted on or connected to tractors and implements.
AEF develops guidelines that provide common interpretations of the standard and organizes conformity work. An ISOBUS label alone is not a complete compatibility promise: usable combinations depend on supported functions, implementations, versions, and verified conformance.
This simplified path shows the information chain. Actual machines can contain multiple electronic control units and additional network segments.
One terminal interface for operating compatible implement functions.
Coordinates task data and selected application functions between machines and farm systems.
Maps compatible physical controls to implement functions.
Allows certified implement functions to request selected tractor actions within defined safety concepts.
Standardized does not mean universal.Machines may support different ISOBUS functions and implementation generations.
Marketing labels are not enough.Compatibility claims need evidence for the exact products, functions, and versions involved.
A summary is not the standard.Critical engineering work must use licensed standards, official guidelines, and certification resources.
